Are there any secluded places to camp on or near the Ohio River?
I'm going to Cincinnati next weekend, and I'd like to spend one or 2 nights camping. However, i want to camp away from other people, away from shower houses and pools and all the commercialized things that are at most Ohio camping sites. How can I find places we can camp where we will have a great view, but also won't come across other people?

- Not many places that are really secluded in the US any more. But for a great view: Shawnee Lookout - North Bend, Ohio Look out over the Ohio River and the lush beauty of two neighboring states. Check out the view from Sawyer Point. Look Good Don't feed the animals, ducks included. The Park District would prefer you to observe the natural eating habitats of the wildlife on one of the park's trails. Have fun.
- Sorry, Im not aware of anyplace you can really camp on the river on the Cincy area. Are you willing to go out towards Oxford and camp at Hueston Woods? Its only semi-commercial, and you could select an area thats a little further away from other campers to get more of the secluded feeling, anyway.
- I've lived in Cincinnati for ages, and I would NOT reccomend camping anywhere near the river, not that it matters, as there aren't any campgrounds around the Ohio River. There are, however, plenty of campgrouds in the Greater Cincinnati Area. You might start your search here: http://www.hamiltoncountyparks.org/rec_camping/camping.htm You could also do a web search for camping around Cincinnati. I hope you have fun on your visit! Make sure you grab some Skyline while you're in town!
