Who knows a nice camping lake or river place?
We want to go camping somewhere in So. California with a couple of friends next week but don't know where to go? Any suggestions will be appreciated...

- Malibu Creek State Park Campground is Situated on a big hunk of the most coveted real estate in Southern California and surrounded by the rapidly encroaching megalopolis of the LA area, Malibu Creek State Park Campground is a precious gem. It is beautiful! Once owned by Bob Hope, Ronald Reagan, and 20th Century-Fox, the park now covers over 7,000 acres. This is a great place to tent camp in fall, winter, and spring. Protected by a mountain range from the fog blahs that hit the beaches in Southern California in the spring, Malibu Creek State Park lies between two major tourist thorough-fares—CA 1 and U.S. 101. It’s just 4 miles down the hill to Malibu and all the wonderful beaches. You’re also near Santa Barbara on U.S. 101 and Universal City to the east. You’ll find safe mountain biking and hiking, so this is a great place to bring children camping. It’s also a good first night’s camp if you are flying into LAX and a good escape from LA if you happen to live there.

- Lake Piru is great. Its near Santa Clarita. You an check out their website at www.lake-piru.org , it is a nice place to swim, fish, boat & camp! Have fun... Also the Kern River north of Bakersfield is great, but quite a farther drive
